Chada

Chada | Katavi

Tucked away beneath a shady canopy of Tamarind trees, is Chada, a luxury tented camp remotely located in Tanzania’s Katavi National Park. The game experience here is one of the wildest you will ever experience, and is often combined with a stay at Chada’s sister property, Greystoke Mahale for excellent chimp viewing.

Six spacious canvas tents are spread out across the edge of the Chada plain, which in the dry season attracts huge herds of elephants and buffalo. Each unit is furnished in traditional safari style and slightly raised on wooden platforms, with ‘bush deluxe’ bathrooms set behind. Each tent has a private verandah offering its guests the most mesmerising of panoramic views. A main mess area looks onto the plains and a beautifully appointed dining room creates the perfect space for a memorable evening under a blanket of stars.

The region is mostly untraversed and you get a real sense of being ‘off the beaten track’. Exploring the park and the prolific game in open sided vehicles is the main attraction here, although guided bush walks and fly camping offers guests the chance to connect further to this untamed wilderness.
