Little Governors

Little Governors’ Camp is another all-time favorite by the Governors’ Camp Collection of properties. Getting here is an adventure in itself - guests must take a short boat ride across the Mara River and then an equally short escorted walk through riverine forest before arriving at a casually luxurious mess area that overlooks a seasonal marsh area teeming with wildlife!

All seventeen tents are perfectly positioned around the marsh which attracts elephants, who love to spend time drinking or cooling down. Hippos and buffalo wallow in the thick mud during the drier months, and occasionally the nearby lion pride will come right into camp at night to grab one of the resident warthogs! The fully canvassed tents are spacious and comfortable, with classic safari decor and polished wooden decks where many enjoyable moments can be spent. This camp is run off 100% solar power and has been awarded a Gold eco rating by Ecotourism Kenya for its sustainable practices in camp.

From Little Governors’ you have unhindered access to one of the most famous wildlife reserves in the world - the Masai Mara! The camp is a stone’s throw from the Marsh Pride of lions who have been repeatedly featured in renowned wildlife documentaries such as BBC Earth’s Dynasties and Animal Planet’s Big Cat Tales and Big Cat Diaries. Cultural visits to the neighbouring Masai village and primary school can be organised directly in camp, while hot air balloon flights with Governors’ Balloon Safaris are easily arranged given the launch site is located directly behind the camp!
