Sand Rivers

Sand Rivers | Selous

As the first property to open in the Selous Game Reserve, Sand Rivers Selous has secured an incredibly beautiful and scenic location, set high on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Rufiji River. Intimate and charming, the camp offers an idyllic base from which to explore this Reserve - a World Heritage Site and home to a multitude of species and birdlife.

The lodge features five riverside rooms and three hillside suites. Each of the open-fronted stone cottages is raised on stilts with traditional thatched roofs, all with amazing views. The interiors are spacious and flooded with natural light; guests can enjoy cool breezes coming in off the river. The three luxury suites with private plunge pools and king-sized beds can be booked by those looking to up the ante. The main area combines a cosy lounge area complete with comfortable sofas and books, as well as a charming bar and dining area.

Sand Rivers Selous provides a very diverse set of activities, from game driving to walking safaris, to fishing and boat trips up the river. Fly camping under the stars with only the sheath of a lightweight mosquito net, is an exciting experience not to be missed.
