      Covid 19 - Tanzania & Zanzibar Entry Requirements

      Entry Requirements

      Whilst we look to update these pages regularly, please check both your local government and the the Tanzanians government's guidelines for travel prior to departure.

       

      Before Arrival
      All Travellers

      All travellers are advised to be fully vaccinated

      On Arrival
      All Travellers


      International passengers entering mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar are not required to present a COVID 19 vaccination certificate or negative COVID 19 test on arrival.

      Health officials may screen passengers for COVID 19 symptoms on arrival or randomly select passengers for rapid antigen testing.

      1. Possible Temperature screening on arrival.
      2. Symptomatic travellers will be isolated for treatment at designated health facilities
      3. For surveillance purposes, Port Heath Officials may at any time perform COVID- 19 Rapid tests free of charge, for randomly selected travelers.
      4. Test results are available approximately 15 minutes after sample collection. Travellers who receive a positive result on their Rapid Antigen test will be required to undergo a mandatory Real- Time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction ( RT- PCR) test, at a cost of USD50 per person per test in
      5. Mainland Tanzania, and USD 100 in Zanzibar. In the event of a positive RT- PCR test result:

        6.   Symptomatic travellers will be isolated for treatment at designated health facilities

      In Tanzania

      1. Hotels are operating as normal
      2. Restaurants and bars are operating as normal
      3. Face masks are to be worn by all people at all times in public places. Hand sanitizing will continue to be conducted in public places
      4. Social distancing of 1. 5m apart is required at all times in public places




      Before Departure


      Departing passengers whose airline, layover or destination country requires a negative COVID- 19 test certificate, require testing prior to departure. This can be facilitated by Government laboratories in cities and various safari destinations. Passengers whose airline or destination country do not require a negative COVID- 19 test certificate are able to leave Tanzania without testing.
