Rwanda Overview

Rwanda lies just south of the Equator, in the heart of Africa.  Widely known as the land of a thousand hills, Rwanda’s epic scenery and friendly people offer unique experiences in one of the most incredible countries in the world. Rwanda is blessed with extraordinary biodiversity, with incredible wildlife inhabiting its volcanoes, montane rainforest and sweeping plains. Travellers come from far and wide to catch a glimpse of the magnificent gorillas, yet there is much more to see and experience.

The unique opportunity to see gorillas in their natural habitat is truly unforgettable, and many even say life changing. Encounters with gorillas are managed carefully with expert trackers and guides leading small groups of tourists up bamboo-covered slopes to spend a precious and unique time just a few feet away from the gentle creatures.

When is the best time to visit?

The best time to visit Rwanda depends on what activities you have planned. For gorilla tracking June to September is best during the dry season. The rainy seasons, from March to May and in November, are the best times for tracking chimpanzees.
